This coming Sunday, in our prayers, we will remember our sister denomination the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenya (ELCK) and their Presiding Bishop,
Rev. Walter E. Obare. Here is the prayer we will use.
Dear Jesus, you have blessed the Missouri Synod with many
sister denominations around the globe who share our love for you, your truth,
your people, and those who have not yet come to know you as their Savior. Today
we remember before your throne the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenya, and
their Presiding Bishop, Rev. Walter E. Obare. We especially
thank you that this denomination, which was started by Swedish Lutherans,
carries out a loving witness to their Muslim neighbors, seeking ways to bring
them to faith in Christ. We are also inspired by their work with orphans,
caring for both spiritual and physical needs. We ask that
you continue to protect and bless them, and that they might inspire us to reach
out with your life-giving Gospel.
