Thank
you for supporting the work of the LCMS and our partner Lutheran
churches in Asia. We hope you enjoy reading updates from around the
region!
Greetings from Hong Kong
Rev. Dr. Allan T.Y. Yung, President of The Lutheran Church-Hong Kong Synod
Dear Friends in Christ,
It is with joy and faith that I greet you at this exciting and
challenging time of year. You have been called into the light of
ministry to serve Him and I offer you peace and encouragement through
examples of God’s grace in our mission. We have been reminded of The
Parable of the Talents, in which “His lord said unto him, Well done,
thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few
things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy
of thy lord” (Matthew 25:21).
The
Lutheran Church of Hong Kong Synod has been blessed with the care of
many kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools within Hong
Kong for the past 65 years. Our mission has spread within Southern China
over the past five years and we are delighted to announce the opening
of a new school this month, Foshan Concordia International School. We
have been faithful in Hong Kong and Shenzhen, we have been blessed with
new opportunities in Foshan and amazing opportunities are yet to come.
When we freely give and are devoted to the service of God, he provides
for us from unimaginable resources. Hong Kong is a small and populous
city in which land is scarce. We try to use all of our school spaces to
support ongoing mission work and churches. Rev. Peter Kolb and I share
common wishes to hold an EnglishSunday service and we have been able to
secure the chapel at Concordia International School for this very
purpose. We are pleased to welcome the community to the first service on
Sunday, October 18th, at 10:30am. It is readily apparent that, even in
such a small and dense city as Hong Kong, when we aim to serve the Lord,
resources can be found.
The ministry continues to grow when we move forward in our mission and
service in the name of the Lord. Against all risks and obstacles, God
will provide the resources to fuel our path to new responsibilities. All
that has been provided is of God and is to be used to His glory. May
heavenly faith and encouragement accompany all of my Brothers and
Sisters in their work in Asia.
