Never a Shortage in the Need for Prayer

There is no shortage in the need for prayer. Below are some requests that come from the frontlines in Africa and elsewhere.

Please pray for the persecuted in Nigeria...
Churches bombed. Villages massacred. Lutherans in Nigeria live in constant fear of persecution and threats from Boko Haram, a militant Muslim group. "I worry about the young native pastors," says Rev. Dr. Nelson Unwene, a retired Nigerian pastor. "Every time I hear of any attack in Jos, Abuja or Kaduna, I call each of them to be sure of their lives. O come, Lord Jesus!" Click here to read how the LHF books you help provide bring comfort and encouragement to Nigerians.
Please pray for our Lutheran brothers and sisters in South Sudan...
..as violence continues between various ethnic tribes. Since fighting broke out in December 2013, thousands of civilians have been killed, and an estimated 2 million people have been displaced, including more than 600,000 refugees fleeing to neighboring countries. Pray also for the safe travel of LHF's American volunteer instructors who continue to travel into South Sudan to teach at the seminary in Yambio.
Please pray for LHF Somali translator Mohamed Gurhan...
...that God would send His holy angels to protect Gurhan as he begins a new ministry to Somali people. Somalia is one of the most dangerous countries to be a Christian, and so his location must be kept confidential.Yet even death threats don't keep Gurhan from his mission to tell his people about the true Savior, Jesus Christ. Click here to read Gurhan's testimony of God calling him to faith (from the LHF archives).
Please pray for Hispanic ministries throughout the U.S....
As you read this, 10,000 more copies of the Spanish Bible with Small Catechism are on their way to LHF headquarters in Michigan. Please keep the many Hispanic ministries who use these books - churches, crisis pregnancy centers, prisons, etc. - in your prayers, that the Holy Spirit would work powerfully through His Word to give saving faith to our Spanish-speaking friends and neighbors. To order your Spanish Bible with Small Catechism, email or call the LHF office at (800)554-0723.
Your support is needed to help continue this important mission. Please give today.

Lutheran Heritage FoundationThe easiest way ever to give a book about Jesus:

A generous supporter is seeking to help LHF spread the word about the LHF mission on Facebook. To encourage more followers of our mission, this supporter is offering $1 for every new "Like" on LHF's page, up to $5,000! Simply click here to link to our Facebook page, click on the "Like" button, and another dollar is given for translating and publishing good Lutheran books for churches around the world! Every five new "likes" equals $5 - LHF's cost for translating and publishing a catechism or Bible storybook in another language.

One more thing: When you're at the LHF Facebook page, share one of the graphics about this grant on your own Facebook page, so that your friends can become LHF mission followers, too!
Reminder: Thrivent Choice Dollars

Don't forget to contact Thrivent to direct your Choice Dollars to the LHF mission (call Thrivent at 800-847-4836). This needs to be done each quarter. Your gifts make a big difference! The Choice Dollars most recently received at LHF are providing the Anuak language Small Catechism for people in East Africa.

Your children's mission offerings go a long way in sharing the Gospel! For just $5 per child, your Lutheran day school, Sunday school or VBS students can give a family in Papua New Guinea (PNG) their very own Bible storybook or catechism, translated into the Tok Pisin language. Click here for more details about the program or to order your free PNG resource kit, including a 5-minute DVD about the project.
