Devote yourselves to prayer,
being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a
door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ.
Colossians 4: 2-3.

Dear Mission Prayer Partners,
As we are preparing for the T ending the Flame Conference, I am mindful of the theme "Joy Over One" from Luke 15. In verse 7, we read " I
tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven
over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who
do not need to repent.". In verse 10, Jesus states: "In the same way, I
tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over
one sinner who repents.". And in the third parable, the lost son story,
Jesus concludes with these words in verse 32: "But we had to celebrate
and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again;
he was lost and is found."
There
is great joy over one who was lost but who is now found. In these days
as we seek to reach the 32 million people of our neighborhoods, it will
happen one person at a time. And when that one person comes into the
eternal relationship with God, there will be great joy!
Please
pray for the work of the entire Southeastern District that members of
our congregations, schools, and missions are bold and courageous in
sharing the Gospel with one person at a time, praying for that person
and engaging them so that the Spirit will fill their hearts with the
knowledge of the Lord Jesus.
Pray
also for the work of the thirty congregations who are participating in
iNeighborhood, that as their members move beyond the walls of the church
and into neighborhoods new opportunities for gathering around the Word
will increase. We also remember the eight congregations who will be
receiving training just prior to Tending the Flame.
And finally, keep Sunday for the City
in your prayers. As we encourage all congregations throughout the
Southeastern District to prayerwalk in their neighborhoods and cities on
Sunday, August 9, we pray especially for the challenges that exist in
our cities. We seek peace and hope for those who dwell within our
cities, lifting up especially Baltimore and Charleston.
Thank you for your mission prayer support. They are making an eternal difference.

10:02 am Prayers for the Harvest and Workers Don't forget to set your cell phones alarm/alert to 10:02 a.m. and pray for the Harvest and Workers. Luke 10:2 Jesus told them,
"The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the
harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field." More
than 32 million people within the boundaries of the SED do not know the
everyday joys of knowing Jesus. Use us Lord, lead us to serve you in
this mission field.
