The Lord be with you
This coming Sunday will be the Last Sunday of the Church
Year. It is also known as Christ the King Sunday. It is also the Fiftieth Anniversary
of Lamb of God. Each of these options have their own lectionary options. We
will be celebrating our anniversary and so we will be using those options. So
our scripture lessons for Sunday will be 1 Kings 8:22-30, Revelation 21:1-5 and
Luke 19:1-10. We will be using Divine Service 3 (page 184) for our liturgy.
This is a communion service. To prepare you may read what the Small Catechism
has to say concerning the Lord’s Supper. Our opening hymn will be “Built on the
Rock” (LSB 645). Our sermon hymn will be “The Church’s One Foundation” (LSB 644).
Our losing hymn will be “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God” (LSB 656). Our distribution
hymns will be “I Love Your Kingdom, Lord” (LSB 651), “May God Bestow on Us His
Grace” (LSB 824), and “Lord Jesus Christ, We Humbly Pray” (LSB 623). The text
for the sermon will be 1 Kings 8:27. The sermon is titled: The “Houses” that
God Builds.
Following the worship service will be a pot-luck lunch.
Blessings in Christ,
Pastor
